Prize 1

Young maiden

Value: R9,000.00

An earthenware sculpture of a young maiden standing roughly 60cm high and valued at R9 000 by well-acclaimed local artist Annalie Odendaal. She is a proud member of the Association of Potters of South Africa. She participated in numerous National and Regional exhibitions of Ceramics SA, where she obtained an award for her pinch pots. For many years, she taught art part-time from home—first in Harrismith and later in White River—while also continuing to develop her own creative practice. Teaching children was a natural extension of her life, as her four children were constantly immersed in making art themselves. This period kept her closely connected to the joy of artistic discovery and the energy of youthful imagination. Sixteen years ago, she embraced the opportunity to pursue art as a full-time career. She regularly participates in group exhibitions and had her first solo exhibition at the White River Gallery in 2026.
